Hayman-Joyce: as featured in the ‘Bricks & Mortar’ section of The Times on Saturday
Moreton-in-Marsh, a thriving Cotswolds market town 90 minutes by train from London and Birmingham, has been a beneficiary of post-lockdown desires to live away from the big cities. In the six weeks after lockdown Londoners registering with the Moreton office of Hayman-Joyce, a local agency, increased 75 per cent compared with the first six weeks of the year.
Tom Hayman-Joyce, who runs the agency, says that families with parents working in London, Birmingham, Oxford or locally make up half his buyers. The other half is composed of retirees, to whom Moreton offers more benefits than the neighbouring smaller Cotswold villages to which tourists and day-trippers flock.
“It’s more of a functioning working town than neighbours like Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway and Chipping Campden,” he says.
